My mother’s side relatives were all hair dressers. So I grew up playing with the scissors and tools for hair. Asking them to perm my Barbie doll using the actual tools and materials… is one of the most memorable things from my childhood. I fell in love with everything at my mom’s hair salon, but the dream of becoming one of them faded as I grew up. My mom taught me to continue perusing something I love. And she also showed me that you got to be a life-long learner for what you love.
That was a long time ago and I have can’t remember all about it. However, I do remember repeatedly reading picture books, illustrated books, and encyclopedias, and I do recall them at some point. :D
I used to repeatedly read picture books too. My favourite was one given to me by my Aunt, and illustrated by Richard Scarry. I remember making up stories and whole worlds with the characters in the illustrations, like this one :)
@emit Love that you say about the physical sensation of these toys being so important to you, and that you told yourself that even if the slide puzzle got mixed up now, it would all be made right again in the future! Such a wonderful way to see things whilst tinkering and experimenting with them :D
