For me, I’m more interested in Projects, after that it will be Passion. I would like to explore more ideas about making funny and interactive projects that will be making my students more enjoyable while learning. For Passion, I found myself still having difficulties in keeping my students interested to learn about certain topics, and in the end, both of us will feel exhausted. Hopes in the next few weeks I can find ways from the materials we are going to learn.
The ‘P’ that resonates the most with me is Passion.
I’ve worked on several projects so far and I have experienced the severe impact passion (or the lack of it) can have on the work that’s being done. It is a critical aspect of the creative process that can either" make or break" the final outcomes of a project. When a team or client is not passionate about a project that project more often than not tends to perform poorly or, in the worst case, it might not even be finished at all.
I learned the hard way that lacking passion in a project is like walking on a creative tightrope.
Excited about Projects and Passion because I naturally pull to them and see so much purpose/meaning/impact in them! Because I am so self conscious, peers and play are not my happy place.
Passion is the most interesting ‘P’ for me. I’m curious to learn how teachers can facilitate exploration and nurture curiosity given the many constraints placed on them.
Over twenty years ago I trained as a Project Manager and worked on Xbox and PC games for Microsoft, I have taught project management courses at university level, yes projects are very interesting phenomena, I worked alongside teams of professional play testers, I have been making games and interested in play and games for about forty years now, Huizinga, Caillios, winnicot, et al, along with various gamification strategies etc… The whole idea of individuals and teams having passion is something that I understand and certainly don’t know enough about, but the area I am most interested in is ‘Peers’. I am curious about the various definitions and framing of ‘peers’ in this Creative Learning context. Thus I’m hoping the course itself provides the opportunity to explore that term and unpack some of the general assumptions etc around that…
Play - I purchased a set of Froebel blocks along with the book “The Kindergarten Guide Volume One: The Gifts” and was transported into the magical world of block play. I spend at least an hour a day with my grandson (and more often than not even without him) in serious block play. We started by building tall towers to knock down and using them to tell stories or for building cities. Now we incorporate all sorts of wooden blocks to create “art”. Again I am in absolute awe at Froebel’s insight into how these can be used to express forms of Life, Knowledge and Beauty.
I can honestly feel my brain grow as I play with the 3 dimensional shapes. I feel like I am in a college level design class working with these and am astounded when I see the development my grandson shows in his block play. Froebel was really onto something.
Hello everyone!
Im Priyanka aka Pri from Bangalore India : ) I’m new here and I’m really excited to be a part of the LCL forum!
I am an L&D Manager passionate about learning and sharing over the last 9+ years! I enjoy facilitating and designing learning experiences!
For me Im particularly curious about Play because I believe the best way to learn is through play. As a child, we never forget the rules of a game and never forget to play too. In fact, we share it with friends and family and over generations too! That’s a big eg of how far learning can take us when made fun and engaging!
In addition without Peers, no learning can be fun! We are social animals and we love to talk share and enjoy ourselves together!
Looking forward to everyone’s banter!
Cheers
Pri
I’m excited by Passion as so different kids very often have to solve very similar tasks from their textbooks or pass infinitely many ordinary quizzes. And maybe, no one asks them what they feel? about what they are thinking at the moment? One example from my daughter Marta: why do we constantly solve tasks on Math about apples and packs of sugar or candies? I ask her to create a task that she would like to do. And she did it very fast (she was 7 years old then): her task was about a number of friends at a social platform, a virus that attacked the platform, and a number of posts, etc. But really math operations stayed the same as in the tasks from her textbook.
Passion is one of the catalyzation factors of anything we do. That’s why I am so excited by this P’
I’m really interested in Passion from 4P’s.
I want to learn more about how we could help students to find their passion through creative learning.
@Joanne Your gandson is so lucky to have you… And you are also lucky to have him. What a beautiful set of rich memories the two of you are creating as you learn together. <3
Hey @JayElf , thanks for sharing Sophy Wong’s story. That’s an interesting observation, and it’s helpful to recognize those moments to be able to push through them :)
Hello everyone
Among the four P’s of Creative Learning, the one I most identify with so far is the P of Projects.
I started to study more about Project Based Learning when I was still under graduation working on a meteorology teaching project and since then I have identified with the methodology.
I believe that the entire course of a project, with planning, organization, with the opportunity to act in different roles and with all the potential to work on different themes and skills, is essential to develop autonomous citizens, able to solve problems working as a team and occupying their proper space in society.
I’m particularly curious about creative Projects and how to design and facilitate them in the classroom to teenagers and even adults, as this is what I do for a living.
I agree. Play is everything in the classroom context it is as important as content-
Regards.
Projects are very important to develop XXI skills and competencies. I agree with you. In group work, there is always interaction and relationships, that enrich the learning experience.
I’m curious about “play” and “projects”. I love using games and different activities in my classes. I’m working for a special institute for intelligent and gifted students. My students are mostly young learners and they love using different activities. I can’t wait to learn more end get inspiration from other people here.
Eu gosto do P de pares. O aprendente consegue traduzir para o outro o que eu nem sempre consigo. Observo que as competências se encaixam como um lego. Eles debatem, sugerem, brincam, conflitam mas resolvem o problema.
Hi everyone
I believe that all the four “P’s” are so powerful and joyous tools for learning. I have a passion to do project with peers and be able to play and have fun in the spirit of teamwork and collaboration.
Happy Learning
I’m inspired by this quotation, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” ~ Helen Keller
Sou apaixonada por projetos e estou sempre buscando novas ideias para trabalhar com meus alunos. As ideias sobre projetos são exatamente o que eu preciso =)
