A five year project. Wow! How wonderful!
Question: What are the challenges in working on a five year project with students?

Hello, I was looking to find a way to put the way I help my students develop projects. Seeing the proposal of this discussion concludes that this is the ideal space. I also thought about working with students for one, two, three years so that the project would have continuity and what they started would not be extinguished.
I’m going to tell you one I’ve been working on for almost 5 years because I got a group of 9-year-olds who were ranked first in the FEITEC science fair, their work was a wind power plant made with styrofoam, cooler, toothpicks.
From this we enrolled in the FICIENCIAS (science and engineering innovations fair), they then developed a robot with the objective of assisting people with low mobility (old people, accidents and other difficulties of locomotion) in the first prototype (renamed RH5 ) he made and served coffee, in the second prototype this one had a compartment for food and medicines (they removed the coffee maker) in the third, they would put their arms, but the resources besides being scarce, we needed someone with more specific knowledge (to which I not domino) and in addition they would be in the last year of technical education in buildings, so chose to do another robot that has the function of helping children to save, used for this an application called inventor 2, put a supermarket and money , plus a cashier for payment.
After passing these steps the child moves on to the math questions phase. It has a safe that keeps the money that can be of toy or real, besides also it has a compartment for bullet (are prizes) we created for the presentations the miniatures and a big tray. Follow the images.

All the prototypes are made with recyclable materials, the first RH5 we use wood, then we move to cardboard and the MOBO we use PVC lining. They use arduino.
We observed in this process the evolution of prototypes and acquisition of knowledge, all started without knowledge or relation with the course they did. They learned to learn, to seek knowledge, and I along with them learning as well.
